Hi! My name is Katie Rios and I have been playing French Horn for 20 years now. I am passionate about all kinds of music and have been head-over-heels in-love with playing and singing ever since I was little. I received many awards and accolades for French Horn in high school and went on to study Orchestral Performance on French Horn at the University of Texas at Austin with Prof. Patrick Hughes. I received enough scholarships to go to college absolutely FREE! I learned so much and played with some amazing groups and even got to tour around the world with the Wind Ensemble. We literally went ALL the way around the world from Hawaii to Asia to London and back to the US! After school, I began teaching and fell in love with music all over again. I am always so excited to meet new students and watch them grow as horn players. My goal is to start with a firm foundation for my beginners, drill fundamentals to work through the challenges of middle school, and start introducing advanced repertoire in a fun and accessible way in late middle school and early high school. We always have fun in lessons, but most importantly, I push all of my students to stretch themselves and learn how to practice what we do in lessons on their own. We will learn core exercises and fun games to keep you in shape as well as develop your range of abilities. No matter what your level as a player, I can help you reach your goals. As someone who has played the full spectrum of beginner to advanced repertoire, I know what it takes to be a confident, solid player.
