Founded on the campus of Oklahoma State University on November 27, 1919, Kappa Kappa Psi is a guiding light with which band students can grow, learn, and develop themselves and their band programs. Kappa Kappa Psi is an organization of opportunity and quality, brimming with historic, well-developed leadership and membership programming that students use to become great leaders, better band members and better adapted young adults prepared for what lies ahead of them.

Katie has had extensive private teaching experience. Her students have 
placed high in solo and ensemble competitions. It is a pride to work with each 
individual student’s learning needs to help them succeed. In 2011, Katie was 
able to study abroad in Venezuela, where she was able to observe and 
participate in the widespread Venezuelan movement of “El Sistema”, a music 
education program directed at helping low income students learn music, and 
through that, provide a support system and motivation to constantly strive to 
attain their goals. It is that system that fuels her passion for teaching, inspired 
by instructing and playing alongside those students. Katie believes that the 
study of music is effective in providing skills to achieve in all aspects of life, 
and is dedicated to helping each student grow to their potential.
