Flute with Katie L.

I've been studying music since my mother, a piano teacher, started teaching me piano when I was a child. After transitioning to flute, years of playing in band, completing an undergraduate degree in flute, and a masters degree in flute performance at Baylor University, I STILL love music and can't wait to see you grow through your own musical journey. I'm currently on faculty at a local fine arts program and was previously the adjunct flute professor at a 4-year university prior to relocation for a family member's job. All ages are welcome. I particularly enjoy working with middle/high school students wanting to take their playing to the next level, AND with adults who have played before and want to get back in shape and have some fun. When you make the choice to study with me, know that the practice routine you'll be following is structured to keep you focused and moving through exercises as you learn in each practice session, so you don't get bogged down. We'll work on producing and (always!) maintaining a beautiful sound, developing good finger technique, learning articulation (the way you use your tongue to either play smoothly or with a point and space between notes), working on rhythm, discovering music theory...the list goes on. Your experience as my student will be goal oriented. I will help you select the correct material so you can maximize your time and see improvement faster. Can't wait to meet you. Let's get fluting!
