Russian with Katia K.

My background and experiences are an eclectic combination of music, audio engineering, and television production. Born in 1987 in Moscow, Russia, I started piano at the age of 5. At the age of 19 I graduated from one of the best musical colleges in Russia (Gnesins State Musical College) with the piano/music theory degree. Few years later I got degree in Audio Engineering with the concentration in Music Recording and Production. I have 5 year experience of teaching students 6-25 y.o. In Russia, as musician and audio engineer, I was involved in projects ranging from a live jazz concert with Herbie Hancock to television broadcasts including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. I chose to further expand my experiences by studying abroad. After being admitted to NYU and Johns Hopkins, I decided on the Middle Tennessee State University three year Master of Recording Arts and Technologies program. I enjoyed studying under the incredibly talented people there and have had opportunity to work with Alexis Gomez (a young talent and semi-finalist of the American Idol show), to work at the 2016 Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, and to direct a production of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. After graduation in May 2017, I moved to Miami where my husband lives and looking forward to meeting new people here and teach piano again in my spare time. If you choose me as your teacher, you will get not only piano lessons, but also a more broad view on interconnection between music theory, audio and physics of sound. For young students, I offer learning through games and singing songs during the breaks between practicing. I enjoy teaching kids and I am a very patient person.
