Working with Actors for film is my specialty. I work with actors on an ongoing basis who are auditioning, are in preproduction or production, to make sure they are prepared and doing their best work. If you’ve never done a film or show, we will work to make sure you achieve the ability to understand what is needed to work as an actor in this medium. We work on auditions and self tapes and how to do them. I’ll work with you to discover the way only you create. I will give you the technique to discover your uniqueness and uncanny veracity for your craft and how to maintain emotional equilibrium and to have the ability to practice discipline and a work ethic. It’s also my job, as your coach, to look out for you. I want you to explore what it's like to experience the unbelievable amount of satisfaction you can have by allowing yourself to study acting. I teach from a method base and will work on monologues, scenes, and audition materials, collaborating with you on what it is you need to understand how we go about doing this thing called acting. I can work virtually. One thing you must know about me, I am nice. I won't crush your dreams. I will, however, make sure you attain them. I can come to you or you can meet me where I teach. I am in SF and Los Angeles. I successfully work virtually with actors, too. I look forward to meeting you.

About Kathryn K.

Kathryn K
I am happy to offer committed actors, music performers and executives private sessions to strengthen your performance and ignite your work.
For actors I specialize in acting for film, television and theatre as a Method Acting Coach. I am a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA.
We will address technique for film, stage, self tape, audition technique, monologue, scene study, script analysis; educating and supporting actors and performers to work effectively in their industry. I have coached on an array of films, and am available for individual and cast rehearsal sessions.
For speakers - We address how to communicate on camera and in those meetings: how to get the best online presentation which includes clarity in communication, space, lighting, sound, wardrobe and everything you need to be confident and ready to communicate your vision.

Actors - I am a Method Acting Coach. We will work on Monologues Scenes Audition Technique Self Tapes and what you need to do to work in the industry or to move you work forward in it. I work best with committed actors and those who are preparing for life as artists.

Speakers: I offer one on one coaching, offering tools to empower the speaker or executive to communicate with authenticity and confidence, giving you tools I offer to actors to better prepare you for the immense pressure one can experience when communicating. I have worked with people from almost every industry.
Many of my students work with me to overcome years of shyness. This work helps them speak more comfortably and confidently.
Most of my actors, performers secure roles, agents and are accepted to the universities they desire, including but not limited to; NYU Tisch, Stella Adler, Carnegie Mellon, Oxford, USC, UCLA, Chapman, to name a few.
I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television Artists and Actors Equity Association, a Critics Circle Award Winning Actor and International Award Winning Solo Performance Artist. I am a keynote speaker. I have worked as a producer in film and commercials and have packaged properties from inception to completion and committed to helping artists, speakers and executives experience their craft in a supportive, safe and self challenging environment.
I am most influenced by Stanislavsky, Lee Strasberg and Uta Hagen and studied at HB Studio, Mark Monroe Studios and Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
I teach communication skills using tools that actors know to help professionals outside of show business communicate effectively and freely. It is extremely inspiring for people who are not in the arts for a living.

You can see my actors on shows such as, HBO's, Thirteen Reasons Why, WestWorld, Blue Jasmine, Touching Home, (too many to name) and productions at Equity theatres throughout the country and countless National commercials. Most have joined SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity.

I have participated in various aspects of film, television, commercial and theatrical productions and composed music for various projects including,
Too Young to Be This Old, The Hummingbird, The Miracle Makers Club (Dr. Joan Hangarter), Surviving Eden (Lee Caplin), Coldwater (Ron Perlman, Lucas Black), Open House (Happy Smart House), Tryst (Winner of NYC International Award), The Prophet, Toddler Project (Mitch Grey) , spearheaded deal packaging 22 patents of children's clothing w China Starr, The Kanooties, Grow.com, The Penny Sparks Show, A Roomful of Trees (ELF) An 18 month lawsuit followed w/ Time Warner. Keats and her partner, Gunnar Madsen, definitely got the short end of that stick but Keats can tell you what NOT to do after spending years writing a movie. (Kathryn Keats and Gunnar Madsen; see Entertainment Weekly.
Co-founded Mark Monroe Studios in San Francisco, changing the face of the creative community. She handled well over 600 students from all aspects of the industry. Kathryn enjoys the entertainment industry and has her degree as a paralegal, which has come in very handy.

They are definitely the most difficult and nerve wracking part of being an actor or singer, right? Booking work means your audition has to be as good as opening night.
Auditioning is about preparation and preparation takes consistent support. Look, showbiz is not a business about being alone. Artists thrive when working together. We are a collaborative bunch and collaborating to make sure you're ready and organized for your auditions makes sense.
Stop trying to muscle through this necessary step alone. No one who works consistently does that! They ask for help. ASK FOR HELP!!
Solidify your acting choices so you don't have to worry about them the day before your audition. Know your prep so you can internally drop into it when the casting director says, "Whenever you're ready."
Have your music material and performance choices prepared ahead of time.
Work with me when your agent sends you your sides so you show up READY. Know your lines. It's OK if your struggling with memorization.
Let's figure out How YOU memorize.
Let me coach you for online audition submissions.
If we are working virtually I will coach while you are taping yourself to submit your online audition. It works!
Let me collaborate with on script analysis in order for you to you understand your material before you audition.
Take your work seriously so you bring your most intelligent and inspiring work to the audition rooms.
You'll be bringing the agents, casting directors, directors, producers and writers the inspiration they crave regarding their beloved projects. Do that and you're gonna book.
I know you can work and I can't wait to make it happen with you.

Kathryn has helped me build my skills and confidence in presenting and recording myself on video for corporate and sales facing content. No detail too small or not discussed... in a good way... from lighting, to microphone placement, to clothing, to make-up, to how to mentally prepare before hand, to the content and the delivery. This is the beginning of what I hope to be a long term journey to continuously hone my skills. She is down to earth, real, genuine, kind and funny. Money very well invested.

I hadn't worked in the music and theatre industry for several years and Kathryn helped me get back on my feet very quickly! I was hesitant about online lessons, but after the first lesson I learned so much and received such helpful feedback that it was well worth it! She is a true acting and musical professional with knowledge of current trends in the industry. Thanks to her coachings and help with selecting repertoire that was good for my voice and type I was able to successfully land multiple callbacks at recent auditions. I highly recommend her!

Kathryn is an amazing teacher! I've been working with her for nearly a year now. At first I was hesitant doing classes online, but I don't regret taking the leap. I've definitely improved my acting skills in the months we've been working together; she gives great feedback and really cares about her students, not ONLY in the way of their acting skills. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to get into acting. I started out knowing nothing and I can say 100% that what I know now is largely in part of Kathryn!

I always try and surround myself with people who give me confidence and make me better. Kathryn does both of those. She doesn't view you as a dollar sign but as an artist. She's the coach that sends you "Happy Birthday" and "Get Well Soon" texts because she genuinely cares.

I've been with her for over a year already and have no plans of stopping. Thank you so much, Kathryn. :)

I'm so lucky to have found Kathryn. I was looking for acting classes in my area and found this site and as if it was meant to be. She's an amazing person and coach. I am naturally a very shy person and this was scary for me but after my first session with her i knew this was right for me. Acting is harder than a thought but i am learning and it's getting easier and it's so much fun! She's cares very much for her students and wants them to be successful!! Thank you Kathryn!!!

It really was such a treat to work with her!

My work with Katherine has been nothing but amazing. She surpasses the label as teacher by all accounts and is a true mentor.
Whether I was feeling low that day as an artist or on my game, she inspired my best work and I walked out of her studio every time feeling fulfilled and grateful.
Thanks to Kathryn, my voice and acting chops have excelled and I have gained callbacks knowing full well it was due to the work I prepared with her for the auditions!

Kathryn is the real deal! I have never acted before and thought I'd like to give it a try. She has this ability to help you believe in yourself in such a way that after the first session I knew if I wanted to pursue acting full time Kathryn would help me make that happen. After working with her I also walked away feeling enlivened. Kathryn took me under her wing and taught me a great deal in a short amount of time. She's also grown up in the industry so her knowledge is vast and priceless.

Kathryn rocks! A wonderful teacher!

Kathryn is teaching my young daughter to sing and we feel very blessed to have found her. She has a really great teaching style that made both me and my daughter quickly feel at ease. She has an incredible background and her technical skills and knowledge are first rate. But she is also fun, spontaneous, and really knows how to interact with and inspire my child. I could go on and on about the world of music and excitement she has opened for us. But in a nutshell, if you have a chance to study with Kathryn you will be very glad you did! The home studio is lovely & wonderfully equipped - its just made for musicians! 5 Stars!!
