Harp with Kathryn H.

Kathryn Harms performs regularly throughout Colorado with recent highlights including performances with the Boulder Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, and the Ars Nova Singers. Equally at home in an orchestra, wind ensemble, chamber group, or as a soloist, she is eager to collaborate with other performers in addition to her solo endeavors. Harms made her international solo debut in 2012 at Mukogawa Women's University in Nishinomiya, Japan as the featured Ball State exchange-soloist after winning first place in the Undergraduate Concerto Competition. In addition to her recital in Japan, she performed the Liberamente capriccioso-Vivace from Ginastera's Harp Concerto with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra in Indiana. In 2010, she placed first in the Jan Pennington Gray National Harp Scholarship Competition and was selected as a national finalist in the Anne Adams Awards harp competition. Harms received her Bachelor's of Music in Performance from Ball State University and her Master's of Music in Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder. A passionate pedagogue, she has been teaching privately for more than a decade. Through her own extensive studies with notable pedagogues, she has experienced a wide variety of instructional approaches as well as vastly different teachings styles. Harms tailors every lesson to fit each student's specific needs and wants.
