- Levels Taught:
- Beginner, Intermediate
I've been sewing my entire life and while I'm new to teaching in a formal setting I've been helping my friends and classmates with sewing since I was in high school. I can teach you basics like how to sew a button and we can work our way up to sewing an outfit.
I can teach you: building (sewing a item of clothing from scratch), altering, tailoring, repairing, embroidery, beading, prop making, hand stitching, machine stitching, how to use a serger, how to read and use patterns, how to plan a project, how to draft a basic pattern, beginner upholstery, and what I call "make it work" sewing tricks for when you don't have fancy equipment or supplies.
If you have a specific project (I'm looking at you, cosplayers and diy Halloween enthusiasts) or if you want to learn a skill that you will use for the rest of your life. I can help.

I'm a grad student at George Washington University who just moved to the DC area from Chicago, and I'm originally from Texas.
I'm a maker who specializes in sewing but I dabble in many other media. I learned everything I know by choosing a project and learning what I needed to to complete that project in a way that I was satisfied with. I have very high expectations of myself so I'd say I am pretty good at what I do and proud of the work I have done. I've also made a lot of mistakes so I know how to help people work through problems.
I'm a massive nerd who loves helping other nerds realize their nerdy dreams so let me help you!
