    • A Bit About Me • I give private lessons in piano, violin, viola, guitar, saxophone, and many more. I have been giving private lessons since 2007 to all ranges of students (beginners to advanced). Personally, I am part of a music group performing for private events and Renissance Festivals. I have been involved closely with music since I was in 4th grade and received my BA in Music Education to help others find and experience the love I have for music. • What to Expect During a Lesson • Rule #1 is that music should be fun! Rule #2 is that it's okay to make mistakes, as long as we try to fix them. Rule #3 is that you should always let me know if there's a piece you've always wanted to learn, even if it's too hard. Lessons with me have three segments. We'll always start with some kind of warm-up, to get things moving. I try to keep this to a minimum as they are generally technical and boring. Then we'll move to the pieces that were assigned last week. These are both songs from the lesson book and anything extra that you've chosen. I don't expect you to play them perfectly. We'll work through hard spots and fine tune the pieces together. Then we'll finish by looking at the pieces for next week, figuring out where the hard spots are and talking about any new concepts. • Lesson Books I Recommend • If you already have books, you can ignore this part. If not, you are going to want to get some! Below is a list of my favorites for each instrument, though you only need one. Guitar: Hal Leonard's Guitar Method Alfred's Basic Guitar Method Piano: Schaum Piano Course Bastien Piano Basics Alfred's Basic Piano Library Saxophone: Musical Magic Accent on Achievement Rubank Method Sound Innovations Ukulele: Alfred's Basic Ukulele Method Alfred's Kid's Ukulele Course Complete Violin and Viola: Strictly Strings All for Strings Measure of Success String Basics

My daughter was reluctant to start lessons but had a great first session. Kathleen knew how to get her interested and she actually practiced more after her lesson!
