Kathleen has performed on stages across the United States and Europe with some of the leading opera companies. She regionally performed the roles of Carmen in Carmen, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutti, The Second Lady in Die Zauberflote, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, The Witch in Hansel und Gretel, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Guilietta in Les Contes d’Hoffman, and Flora in La Traviata, as well as over 40 other leading roles. After college she was asked to join the young artist program with Virginia Opera. After the young artist program, she was chosen to perform lead roles with their main stage productions for the following season. In the fall of that year, she performed Mercedes in Carmen (and was the cover for Carmen). Also, she was the Somewhere Soloist in Westside Story, for which the Washington Post said she gave “the best vocal performance of the evening.” Following her time at the Virginia Opera, she was signed by a well-known New York agent and began her professional career. Some notable performances include: a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall in Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass and St. Nicholas Mass. She was personally invited to sing Maddalena from Rigoletto in Cheboksar, Russia, at their yearly International Festival, had the privilege to perform the world premiere of Cinderella by Semour Barab as the role of Cinderella’s mother, and she performed the Verdi Requiem, with the extra chorus under the baton of James Levine, with the Metropolitan Opera Chorus. She received her master’s from the University of Tennessee, did her doctoral work at the University of Illinois, and holds an advanced certificate in vocal pedagogy at NYU with top honors in 2014. She has had the privilege to work with such artists as James Levine, Dan Saunders, John Wustman, Carroll Freeman, Michael Ehrman, Kurt Klipstatter, Mignon Dunn, Faith Esham, Nathan Gunn, Kevin Short, and Sean McDermott to name a few. In the near future she will be finishing her DMA in vocal performance from the University of Illinois. Kathleen is also the owner of Broadway Kid Starz which is a musical theatre program for children.
