With a PhD in Ethnomusicology and a Masters in Violin Performance, Kathleen teaches everything from Celtic fiddle tunes to classical concertos. Kathleen has performed with the Miami Symphony Orchestra, Indiana's Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Reno Chamber Orchestra and has served as concertmaster and soloist for the Chehalem Symphony Orchestra in Newberg, Oregon. She has lectured at Indiana University, Davis & Elkins College, Miami Dade College, and George Fox University, teaching World Music, Music History, and Music Appreciation courses, as well as string studio lessons and leading a string ensemble. Her festival performances include International Celtic Colours Festival, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; International Festival-Institute at Round Top, Texas; and the Aspen Music Festival and School, Colorado. She earned her Masters in Violin Performance from the University of Nevada, studying with Philip Ruder, and Bachelors of Music under Kathryn Lucktenberg at the University of Oregon. Additionally, she studied viola with Yuval Gotlibovitch at Indiana University during her doctoral program in Ethnomusicology.

SEM is a U.S.-based organization with an international membership of approximately 1,750 individuals dedicated to the study of all forms of music from diverse humanistic and social scientific perspectives.
