Hello! My name is Katherine, and I'm a violinist in the Twin Cities. I look forward to making music together! I believe learning music should combine technique with musical exploration, and I try to incorporate both into my teaching. I base my teaching in the Suzuki method, which emphasizes ear training and the idea that all people have the ability to make music at a high level. However, I am adamant about recognizing each student's individuality and learning style, therefore I tailor my lessons to fit the student's own goals and needs. After graduating from St. Olaf College, where I was a member of the St. Olaf Orchestra for four years, I moved to France to teach English for a year. Since relocating to the Twin Cities, I have been teaching violin and working in special education at High School for the Recording Arts. In addition to teaching, I play for the Old Log Theater's production of GHOST, a Cuban band Charanga Tropicale, and in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
