    About Katherine L.

I began singing at two years old in my car seat and never stopped after I got the lead part in my Kindergarten musical. Music and art were always my two favorite classes in school along with playing my flute in Band. In seventh grade, I sang my first solo, performed in my first operetta, The Pirates of Penzance, began taking piano lessons, and began taking voice lessons singing mostly folk, Gospel, Classical, and Broadway music. I won many awards (Most Improved Singer), contests (Delaware PIN Contest), and scholarships during this time up until my senior year of college. I offered a scholarship from Heidelberg University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Music specializing in Vocal Performance. Despite having several offers from different music schools, I decided I did not feel ready to get my Masters. Also, I had realized another love, teaching, during those four years in college and needed to explore it more. I was admitted into the Masters of Education program at The Ohio State University and acquired 32 credits and a 3.8 GPA. Afterward that I continued to advance and diversify my vocal skills at the same time as my teaching skills by studying with a different teacher in my hometown. He perfected my Broadway, Jazz, Country, and Disney singing and gave me many opportunities to perform as a soloist at his church. When I moved to Tucson I decided my next focus was to start a performance/lesson company and started taking college-level voice lessons again and continued to perform locally. All of those experiences led me to want to get my Masters and take my voice and business to the next level.so that Spring I auditioned for a university. Unfortunately, they denied me from getting into the program. Where that would deter most, it only gave me more motivation to work harder for my dreams. I worked as a substitute voice teacher at two different companies and taught a few students on my own while I took extra voice lessons along with Italian and acting classes. I discovered an excellent voice teacher at one of a summer program and he taught me all I needed to get into graduate school. As of this April, I just finished my first year of graduate school with a 4.0 GPA. My voice, my stage presence, musicality, musicianship, artistry, confidence, resume, and knowledge blossomed so rapidly this year! I am eager to keep growing and developing as fast as I can so I can do the same for my students too!
