Hello! I am thrilled to welcome you to Kaiser Flute Studios. Private music lessons are a lot of fun and I can't wait for us to get to know each other! There are a few things you can expect of me as your music teacher. You can always expect me to respect you and your time. Respect is very important to me. I ask that you also respect me, my time, and my home. You can expect me to come prepared for your lessons and to be attentive during your lessons. Your lesson time is our time to work together and I will never give you less than 100% of my focus. When we are in the studio, my attention is yours. You can expect me to be non-judgmental and open-minded and to always listen to your questions and concerns. I want my studio to be a safe place for your to express. You can talk to me about anything, even if it doesn't relate to the flute. Your thoughts, feelings, and concerns are important to me.. From you, I only expect that you will come to your lessons prepared every week and ready to learn. I ask that you communicate with me freely. I want to know what is going on in your life outside of music lessons. Please never be afraid to ask a question or make mistakes. My studio is a non-judgmental place!

    Experience

    Private Instructor

    Jun, 2006 - Present

    Kaiser Flute Studios

I have run a successful private studio since June of 2006. My students learn much more than the flute--we work on other music skills, such as music theory, but more importantly I like to help them develop skills that will be necessary in the real world of adulthood (things like responsibility, punctuality, and curiosity.). Students from my studio have won local and state-wide awards and competitions and many have gone on to study music at the collegiate level.

    Private Instructor

    Sep, 2012 - Jun, 2014

    Athens Community Music School

The Athens Community Music School is an organization run by Ohio University that offers private instruction to students enrolled in local middle schools and high schools. During my time with ACMS I taught private flute lessons and music theory. I assisted students with band music, prepared them for local and state-wide competitions, and assisted with collegiate auditions. As a music theory instructor I prepared students for collegiate placement tests and worked to give them a broad understanding of music theory.

    Private Instructor

    Nov, 2011 - Jun, 2013

    Logan High School

I was hired as an adjunct flute instructor at Logan High School in Logan, OH. My main duties included preparing students for solo and ensemble festival, assisting them with collegiate auditions, and offering extra help to struggling students. In addition to private instruction, I also coached small chamber ensembles.
