I graduated from UTSA in the Fall of 2008, with a Bachelor of Music with a Vocal and Piano Emphasis. I have been teaching private piano and voice for 11+ years. I am fun, energetic, and patient. It brings me such joy to be able to teach children something I am so passionate about!
*** Lesson Details ***
Students need to practice 15 minutes a day. They are required to complete everything that is assigned to them that week, and be prepared for their lessons for the following week. A beginner usually in 3-6 months should be familiar with reading the basic treble and bass clef staff, be familiar with dynamic markings, beginning to understand basic music theory, tempo and minimal sight reading. Voice students study basic vocal technique, and learning to sing properly.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I usually provide the books after the parents have paid for them. They should have their own instrument to work with.
*** Specialties ***
I use the Alfred method for piano.
I was the lead vocal coach, and also was the instructor for Broadway classes which included learning how to sing properly and dance at the same time.

Great first lesson. Was unsure what to expect but Kate made us feel welcome and my daughter felt comfortable. Looking forward to the next lesson!
My impression is that Kate is an experienced and knowledgeable instructor. Excellent lesson.
Within minutes, I could tell that she was a very haopy person and that I would have no problem talking with her. She also challenged me to sing outside my range. I felt unsure but she encouraged me and I did okay. I can't wait for my next lesson.
Kate is a very nice person and looks to be fun to work with. She was also very encouraging. I look forward to working with her and learning from her.
My daughter is really enjoying her lessons. She has grown very fond of Ms. Kate. She looks forward to her lesons.Keep up the good work Ms. Kate.
