Boston-based violinist/violist, Kate, is an avid chamber and orchestral musician, recitalist, and passionate teacher. Some of her many performances have been on the renowned stages of Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Seiji Ozawa Hall, and Glinka Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Most recently her debut performance at Weill Recital Hall raised funds for the New York Women’s Foundation. Kate currently performs with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, and the New England Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestral engagements have been under the baton of notable conductors Gustavo Dudamel, Keith Lockhart, JoAnn Falletta, and Jeffery Meyer, to name a few. This summer, Kate had the opportunity to perform at the Ossipee Valley Music Festival with world famous fiddlers Brittany Haas, Lauren Rioux, and Darol Anger.
Past festival appearances have included LyricaFest Boston, Brevard Music Center, Garth Newel Music Center, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival, and the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music Spoleto Festival. Kate has been coached extensively by eminent violinists Rachel Barton Pine, Elmar Oliveira, Vilde Frang, and Levon Chilingirian, cellists Terry King, Anthony Elliott, and Mihail Jojatu of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as well as members from the Ying and Cleveland Quartets.
In addition to being on the faculty of the Yamaha Music School of Boston, she also teaches at the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest in Framingham, MA, ArtsAhimsa Music Festival at Belvoir Terrace in Lenox, MA, and maintains a private studio in the Boston area. Kate had the privilege of studying with esteemed pedagogues and performers Laura Bossert and Susan Waterbury. She earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from Ithaca College and a Master of Music Degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
