Gain vocal balance and improve muscular strength with a professional singer.

In each lesson, I will identify immediate issues then put you on a weekly regimen to move you toward vocal balance. I use Gary Catona’s Vocal Building technique to improve your muscular strength. After that, I will use a two-fold system of vowels (Catona) and consonant-vowel speaking combinations (Bauer) to balance your voice by training the articulators to work in tandem with your vowel placement enhancing your natural sound, support, and create balanced breath pressure. Specific to learning the Catona Method: This is an intensive vocal workout learning the fundamentals of Gary Catona’s Vocal Building method. We will cover all mouth positions and how to execute each exercise properly. It usually takes two 1 hour lessons to get a grasp on the Basics. *Please note I do not have to teach you the Catona method, but I highly recommend trying it.* Practicing is imperative to building your vocal muscles, stamina, breathing, support, and performance skills.

If you do not see a time available, please reach out. Currently a grad student at NYU Steinhardt for Speech-Language Pathology. Hi! My name is Karmyn! Being a professional singer and actress, I understand the need for an effective vocal technique that enables you to sing or speak consistently and confidently using all of your emotional range without compromising the health of your vocal cords. I can help you do just that! My love of teaching began in vocal pedagogy class at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. For over 20 years I've honed my teaching skills in vocal science, ear training, and positive communication to help students of all ages do some amazing things! Therapeutically I have helped students: -significantly increase their range (higher and lower) -dramatically increase control of vocal volume and tone -smooth vocal tone throughout the register: paying special attention to smoothing the mix -heal voices of vocal nodules or polyps with no need for surgery -heal vocal issues associated with psychological stress -learn how to find pitch easier with confidence -learn how to find their authentic voice and not imitating another artist -how to be creative in their songwriting styles -control asthma and panic issues through the Buteyko Breathing technique -increased breath control with the Buteyko Breathing Technique My technique is two-fold: First, I use Gary Catona’s Vocal Building method to build your cords. I've used his technique in my studio for 12 years. It is the most unique and powerful method I have ever used, and it works 100% of the time. It uses Italian Vowels with specific mouth positions to scientifically build your voice and make it more powerful, effective and controlled. Second, I use consonant-vowel combinations for your specific vocal diction issue. Many of the exercises come from my training with Master teacher Bill Bauer of Dallas, Texas. Many times diction gets in the way of vowel placement. This technique eliminates that problem. I am so blessed to teach students who have received full scholarships to some of the best music schools and summer programs in the world, appeared on American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Grand Ole Opry, Off-Broadway shows, Regional and National tours, State and National Pageant competitions, and in National Commercials, Television shows and film. I'd love for you to join that list! All you have to do is take a lesson and practice! **COVID-19 UPDATE** **Online lessons only!** As soon as the studios open back up, Live lessons will be available again. Live lessons are available upon request at Ripley Grier Studios on 72nd in NYC. You must message me for more info. There is a $15 per hour studio fee - besides the usual lesson amount. ($7.50 per 30 minutes; $11.25 per 45 minutes) If you have any questions, please feel free to message me!
