    About Karl M.

From Montreal, Canada, Karl Marino is a guitarist, composer and arranger. Having a solid classical guitar background from years of study with master Àlvaro Pierri, his insatiable curiosity for any and all styles of music permeates in his playing style in a very unique way. From classical concert pieces to original arrangements to improvised music, Karl Marino is dedicated to expanding the palette of the nylon string guitar repertoire and sound. Grand Prize Winner at Lee Ritenour’s Six String Theory international competition, Karl Marino studied at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he expanded his knowledge and practices of popular music as well as honed his skills as a composer for media. He has composed and arranged scores for an increasing number of television productions. Karl Marino’s musical contributions are quite varied. He has played and recorded an album in duo with fellow guitarist François Chanvallon. He has also been a part of a number of Berklee concert productions, one of which featured the great Toninho Horta. He has recorded and toured with the Felix award winning Forestare guitar ensemble. He also co-wrote, co-arranged and recorded Trifield Guitar Project’s first album Montana Suite, featuring two other fellow Six String Theory finalists Rami Halperin and Alex Sill. Karl Marino’s playing has received compliments and praise by many world renowned musicians such as Lee Ritenour, Ralph Towner, Robben Ford, Àlvaro Pierri and Dave Grusin. Still, he continues to explore music and learn as much as he can. According to Karl, music is a humbling labor of love, the greatest gift to have in life.
