I am an experienced photographer, artist and mentor.
My areas of focus are the body, intimacy, dreams, surrealism and landscape. I have developed classes around these topics that have been well received, I have been teaching this line of photography for 7 years, subsequently, I have also taught documentary photography for 10 years.
I work in the darkroom with black and white and alternative processes and also work in digital photography.
I have taught at prestigious schools in the USA; SVA, ICP, CalArts, NYU, CUNY, SUA among others.
I am interested in helping photographers at any level to develop their skill for storytelling, for clarity in their personal or documentary projects, and any difficulty they are having either beginning their career, continuing their projects , direction or wrapping a body of work.
I am an award winning photographer and have a long standing career as a mentor.

I am a professional photographer and artist.
I have been exhibiting my work since 2003 and teaching since 2005.
I have exhibited widely among places The Portrait gallery at the Smithsonian museum in Washington, DC, Queens museum, I have participated in the Musee Quai du Branly biennial and received their artist in residence fellowship in 2017. I have participated in 2 NYT portfolio reviews, fotofest in Houston, in the 3rd Latin American forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I had a solo show at Yoshinaga gallery in NYC in 2018, a book of my work was published by Autograph ABP, and have been nominated for awards such as Prix Pictet, 2019, Greenpeace 2017.
This year my photograph is the cover image of UNESCO year of Indigenous Languages.
My work is often featured in the NYT.
I also am a senior photo reviewer for a prestigious magazine.
As a teacher I teach how to see, how to understand what surrounds us and how to capture that through the camera.
I am interested in teaching students how to see the world through the lens of photography but also how to incorporate other media as painting, video, performance, sculpture and so on.
In the first class we will look at your work, and you will receive a review from me and what are the places of strength and what can be improved. From this initial review I will cater the following classes to suit your needs.
