Nationally-certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov Technique of acting, Kara is a professional stage and screen actress, director, producer, and theatre educator. She has appeared on screen in Allegiant and Logan Lucky, and on numerous stages around her home base of Atlanta, GA. She holds a BFA and an MFA in acting, and has taught at The University of Georgia, Kennesaw State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi to name a few. 

Though steeped in Chekhov's psycho-physical approach to acting, Kara is an intuitive teacher who shapes the lesson to the student and his or her needs. She is also an experienced and adept improviser and experienced in the Linklater approach to vocal training.

Kara is passionate about acting, about the arts broadly, and about teaching. Her greatest joy is working with actors to find those moments of transcendence that define great performances.

I'm not going to lie to you. It's not easy being an actor. It's vulnerable. It's unstable sometimes. It forces you to confront your weaknesses. But, because I will NEVER lie to you, you'll know exactly where you stand, what you need to work on, how much you're improving. I'm not saying I'm tough or mean. No, my students usually find me funny, warm, and encouraging, but I will always tell you the truth as I see it. And I can tell you that the truth is you'll learn a lot of immediately transformative, useful, effective tools with me that will make you a better actor.

Kara is a wonderful instructor. She’s incredibly hands on and knows all about the subject she’s teaching. She’s also very respectful and makes all of her students feel comfortable. The class I took from her was fun and inspiring.

Kara teaches Checkov, a unique, interesting physical acting style. Checkov helps significantly with versatility and choices. Kara makes learning fun and gives you a great workout mentally and physically. She helps students grow passionately in acting.
