*** Lesson Details ***
First, I need to talk to my students about their goals. Not only for the adult, teacher also need to know what kids want to know about music. They are interested in it sometimes, they just don't know. Second, I will let them know, interests is just the first step. If you want to learn, you have to pay! Pay your patient, and your endeavor. I will teach in some specific ways to motive students to approach the goals. for example: listen, singing, playing, reading is the process to make the students catch the goal faster without lost their interests! So involve more activities in the lessons is very important! Also, serious technique practice is necessary. As I mentioned before, not only interests, if you want to learn , you have to pay. Once you catch your goal, you will feel happy that the teacher has been pushed you for some boring finger exercise.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I do have a grand piano at home. For violin students, they should have their own instrument.

It's been 3/4 year since we've been with her, and she is absolutely awesome! She totally earned my daughter's respect. Meeting a right teacher is so important because it took some time to correct the bad habit she aquired and continued that her previous teacher let go. Ms. Kan is absolutely one of the best teacher we had so far!

Kan is wonderful!

Kan seemed very qualified and the first lesson or so went well with the exception of hearing her child cry on and off throughout the lesson and make an appearance on camera as well. We tried to be understanding. Unfortunately we learned she has quite a temper. Our Internet went down and caused problems in our Skype connection. We tried to contact her and Skype said she was unavailable. It took some time to unravel it. When we finally got back in touch with Kan 16 minutes after the lesson started, instead of listening and understanding that we had technical problems, she yelled at us and kept brandishing her phone at the camera to "prove" that she was ready for the lesson. She barely let us get a word in. She very firmly told us we would be paying for the lesson and continued to hold her phone up to the camera. We wanted to just continue the lesson in it's shortened form, but she refused to put her phone down and kept talking over us. Our goal was to remedy the situation; after this, we wanted nothing further to do with Kan. She upset our daughter and that's the end of that. Be warned.

Mrs. Kan is an amazing violin teacher! She has been teaching my 6 yr. old for almost a year via Skype. She is very patient, kind and understanding. I'm always amazed at all the fun and silly games she comes up with to keep my young player interested and learning. And although we have fun and some good laughs, she is also very firm and takes our time seriously.
In the past year Mrs. Kan has also taught me so that I can help my daughter's skill and knowledge while we practice at home. She has been wonderful to work with and she gets 5 GOLD stars from me!!

Kan W. is such an amazing teacher. She gave me all her time. She was very flexible with me even though when she just had her new born baby. I am a beginner and I had a special request from Kan to learn a song to play on my wedding (which was last September). In three months she taught me two! she did more than enough on her part to teach me how to play the songs that I picked. She was very helpful with the process. She simplified the notes for me, found easy version and even went through the notes I found and listened to my examples. She also has great techniques for practicing. I loved her approach. Besides all of this, she was really motivational. She is a great teacher. I look forward to take lessons with her again.

I am getting a late start in music and I thought I would like to learn the violin, until I realized my passion is actually for drums and that it probably wouldn't be a good idea to try to do both. So I only took violin lessons twice. But I have to say that I was very excited about what I was learning from Kan. She is an excellent teacher and she makes learning the violin fun. She is also very insightful and understanding of new students' limitations. I would recommend her to anyone desiring to learn the violin.

Kan is definitely one of the best teacher I've ever had! Aside from the fact that she's already a naturally talented teacher, she's also extremely patient and determined for her students' to learn. She makes sure that her students understand the materials that they're covering for the day, and she explains everything thoroughly and carefully as much as she can. I didn't have any musical background when we started about 4 months ago but I'm now learning in a surprisingly accelerated rate all because of her teaching techniques: Daily finger practice, sight reading, and repetition of difficult parts.

Best Violin Teacher Ever!

I'm currently having violin classes with Kan for half a year right now, and so far I think she is the best violin teacher I have ever met. With a variety of effective teaching techniques, Kan can always help me to improve my violin skills in many ways. She teaches me a lot of advanced finger exercises which is really helpful and efficient. Another amazing thing of her is that she can ALWAYS notice what your problem is and tell you right away so that you will no longer make that mistake any more. As an adult learner, She is SUPER patient with me and pays a lot of attention to my questions. Otherwise, she is a professional violinist and so knowledgeable and helpful as a great teacher. I'm so happy to have a class with her every week and will definitely recommend her to my friends who wants learn violin!

Great violin teacher. As an adult student, I was looking for a teacher with good qualifications and teaching ability and Kan has met all expectations. She tailors lessons to fit your needs and she was very understanding of my weird work schedule. I sought lessons to learn proper technique and mechanics and feel that with her lessons I've definitely improved from when i started and am on the right track moving forward. She relates her instructions to things you're familiar with so that you can easily understand how and why things are done. She is very active during lessons whether its playing background with you or making sure you're not swinging your shoulder. She is as interested in your progress as you are.

Kan is truly one of the most thorough, patient, and detail-oriented instructors I have ever had. She actually teaches her students the basics, which many tend to skip, but she stresses is important if you truly want to be a good musician.

She is extremely kind, devotes her full undivided attention to her students, and you can tell she is very passionate about music and teaching.

If you're looking for an instructor, Kan is one of the best! You wont be disappointed.

Great violin instructor!

I am a college student at Azusa Pacific University, and Kan was suggested to me by one of her colleagues. At the time, I had just declared a music minor and was preparing to audition for my school's Symphony Orchestra. In my first lesson with her, I could tell that she knew exactly what my level of violin playing and experience was and started building me up from there (when I began lessons with Kan, I had been playing violin for about 8 years). Thanks to Kan's instruction, I was able to achieve my goal of getting into my school's Symphony Orchestra! Everyone I know has definitely seen growth and improvement in my playing, including myself. Kan is very friendly, caring, and always wants to see her students improve! Even after she received her Master's degree at APU, she continued to come to APU to give me a lesson!

The violin teacher is great.

We satisfy with the violin teacher. First of all, she is very professional. She masters music theory and she has a lot of performance experience. Then, she teaches in proper way and she is patient with students. She focuses on not only practicing but also listening. She corrects students’ wrong playing actions patiently. Finally, she can teach my daughter in both English and Chinese (Mandarin). Therefore, my daughter has a rapid progress in playing violin.
