I am a native English speaker and fluent Spanish speaker. I graduated from Winona State University with a Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Spanish and a double minor in Child Advocacy Studies and Social Justice Studies. I was also chosen for the Outstanding Student Award in the Spanish Department.
Spanish students can expect to learn, develop and improve their verbal and written Spanish knowledge and skills. Unlike traditional classroom learning, my lessons focus on developing conversational Spanish skills and techniques and also includes a focus on Spanish cultures and traditions.
I am able to teach students of all ages and experience levels. I have studied Spanish for eight years. I have also lived in Costa Rica and traversed through the Andes mountains in rural Ecuador. I can teach students vocabulary necessary for every day conversation and advanced verb and sentence structures that can be used in professional settings. I am also versed in Latin American Spanish as well as Spain Spanish and am able to teach both or one version based on the student's preferences and goals.
I truly believe that learning another language is life changing and opens many doors for students personally and professionally. I am passionate about the Spanish language, including phonetics and diverse dialects, but also believe that culture and engaging activities are what make Spanish fun to learn. I look forward to getting to know you and aiding you on your journey to learn Spanish!
I was an interpreter for a five year old boy who only spoke Spanish in an all English preschool. I interpreted for him from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
