    Music production brings a song idea from a concept to reality. The music producer’s tools consist of hardware, software and musicianship that works together with inspiration to create classic music! This course provides today’s music creators with a foundation on the necessary concepts, terminology, and techniques of modern studio track composition and music theory. Students should be able to: Select and augment sounds for music composition Compose music tracks using major scales and diatonic chord progressions Locate and organize samples for music production Sequence drum tracks on a musical grid Arrange and export music tracks Understand workflow techniques in Ableton Live Identify major scales, triads, and chord progressions Collect and organize samples in Ableton Live Compose a track with a melody Design and export tracks and stems in Ableton

    My name is Kahlil and I'm a songwriter/producer from San Diego, CA. I've been doing music since I was 3 years old, performing in local musicals and events, then learning various instruments/production by the time I was 10 years old. I went to SCPA (School of the Creative and Performing Arts) from 6th to 11th grade where I learned performance arts, as well as receiving training in music fundamentals and theory. I have been on stage with Bootsy Collins, in the studio/background sang for golden globe/grammy nominated artist Andra Day, Mike-N-Keys and other artists/producers as well. Learning through me will also give you the opportunity to listen to guest speakers and connect with other artists through my nonprofit program called 'The Garage', hosted by me every Friday night at 7pm! Come join the community and I can't wait to start teaching you all you want to know!
