Learn viola from a teacher whose students have won awards.

Online lessons have been going well since 2020. Even beginniners with no experience are doing well on video lessons. I have a good system for virtual lessons where I show what to mark on my music so the student gets independence and marks their own music. I check their music. I show technique and explain steps verbally and show with my own violin or piano. We also do music theory worksheets on zoom together. We also work on how to practice. I am open for weekly online lessons using Zoom or Google Meet. Weekly lessons are recurring on the same day and time for each week. We have many online performance opportunities and local orange county in person performance options. Jill has been teaching music for 20 years (violin, viola, piano, theory, ear training) 20 years of Music Teaching Experience Students can start from the very beginning or come in to improve technique, sound, skills, ear training, intonation, and reading music and reach advanced level. Studentse can try various music styles: classical, jazz, Fiddle, pop music Students work on scales, exercises for tone and coordination, vibrato, solos, ear training, audition music, and orchestral music. I can recommend many youth orchestras in the area. Some of my students work on auditions and music for All Southern Youth Orchestra and All State Youth Orchestras. I go at the student's pace and also start out many beginners. Students learn to sight read and practice rhythm exercises to prepare for orchestra auditions and playing with other musicians. We work on etudes, scales, standard solo works for viola and concerti.

Bachelor's of Music Degree in Performance Violin and Viola from: Cole Conservatory of Music at the CSULB University Music scholarship student and Honor Roll Studied music privately since the age of 9 Attended summer music festivals and music camps to perform in string quartets. Studied music composition, jazz, and music theory in university. Performed at the Segerstrom Concert Hall, Walt Disney concert Hall and Soka Performing Arts Center. Classically trained and performed professionally on violin and viola and worked in classical symphonies in California. Jill is patient and has a variety of students and able to adjust to each student's personality and needs. Method books used: Scales, Etudes, Exercises, Faber Piano Adventures, Suzuki method books, standard works by various composers. Sonatas and Concerti Students also learn to read music (Sight reading) and learn rhythm and ear training. Jill can help students with orchestra auditions for local youth orchestras and auditions for college scholarships. Some of her students have won concerto competitions and music awards, music scholarships and participate in local youth orchestras and honor orchestras. She teaches violin, viola, and piano. I'm the gramma of Chloe (the student)who is 12 yrs old and taking Viola lessons from Jill over Zoom for home school. And I have to say as I was listening in the background I was thinking, Wow! It's as if they're old friends already! She has a very reassuring and friendly personality. And Chloe already learned something in that first lesson when Jill was trying to assess Chloe's abilities. I'm sure you'll immediately like her teaching abilities as much as we do.
