My name is Justin. I have been playing guitar for over a decade. I started out as a self-taught musician, but then decided to study music at the college level. I received my BA in music from the Claremont Colleges. I studied guitar performance under the guitarist Jack Sanders.
Post-college, I was hired by New Heights Elementary as an after-school music teacher. I created a music program consisting of music theory, piano, guitar and composition that brought music to kids in low income situations at our school. My after-school program was very successful and I absolutely love being with kids. I have experience mainly teaching children from ages 8-14, but also have experience with adolescents and adults.
I am a freelance composer and have a portfolio available on my professional website. I am able to teach music theory, orchestration and composition to students who are interested. That would all be under the "music theory" lesson group.
I currently live in Japan, which is why I am offering Skype lessons only. I will be returning to Los Angeles in the summer, so I will be available for in-person lessons then.
Taught English as a second language at the high school level in the Japanese education system.
Taught music fundamentals to children grades K-7th; taught classical, flamenco, and rock guitar to children grades 2nd-7th; assisted teachers in multiple subject areas.
Justin had helped me out with some Guitar in the past and he really knows his stuff. He's given me some great advice to start playing much better than I could have figured out on my own. I've passed some of his advise along to people I've helped. As I've gotten a little better his tips ring more and more true.+ Read More
