Hi, I'm Justin. Thanks for checking out my page.
I've been a musician, engineer and record producer for over 20 years, along with teaching instruments, stage performance and songwriting. Between playing and running live sound I've probably done about 3,000 shows, and I don't even like to think about how many hours I've spent working with musicians in recording studios.
But here's the thing. I feel like mainly what I've learned in all that time is how to communicate with musicians on their level, in words that make sense to them. That forms the basis of all of my teaching, understanding where my clients want to go and working with them to find the quickest path to get there.
When I started playing, I remember not even knowing that you were supposed to tune the guitar to specific notes, you can imagine how that well that worked out... But I kept at it and just a few years later I put out my first full length album (this was in the 90's when it you couldn't do it at home and studios cost a ton of money, that's another good story.) Since then I've played everywhere from sold out stadiums to my couch after a long day of work, and the one thing I've learned is that there's no good or bad to where you're at in your journey - it's just where you are today. And having been on that journey too, believe me, I can relate to wherever you're at.
I specialize in teaching both serious guitarists (all levels) and people who would simply like to play enough guitar to accompany themselves or write songs. While I love music theory, I understand that it can be kind of a drag. We can work together to find the best way for you to learn what you need to know to make the sounds you love.
Along with teaching guitar, I also produce music and have a lot of experience coaching bands and solo performers. If you have goals in mind like recording and releasing some music, performing live for the first time, or taking your band to the next level, I would be happy to help
I'm not the best at talking about myself, so please take a minute to look at my "experience" section.
My thoughts and advice are always free, feel free to message me if you'd like to talk about what you're doing with music.
