There's nothing I love more than seeing my students succeed and enjoy learning music! I'm a laid back, fun personality with a structured curriculum teaching Piano, Guitar, Music Theory and Ear training. I teach all styles of piano, specializing in Jazz and Classical piano, arranging, improvisation and ear training. I'm here to help you have fun and achieve your musical goals and dreams, I care deeply about your success and will be there to help you every step of the way! I'm originally from Denver, Colorado and started Classical piano lessons at age 7, guitar at age 12. I have over 28 years playing and 12 years of seasoned teaching experience, much of which has been with kids. I received a BA in Classical and Jazz Piano Studies from MSU Denver and have mentored with critically acclaimed piano greats Art Lande, Peter Martin, Eric Gunnison and Dennis Hamm from the grammy-winning band Thundercat. My originally composed jazz EP received worldwide airplay on Denver's 89.3 FM KUVO radio station. Currently I'm an active performer and educator throughout the LA area as a solo pianist, session pianist and keyboardist and with my own jazz and rock fusion band. I strongly believes in helping his students have fun learning music with a structured curriculum, with lessons being tailored to the individual student. I teach all styles and all levels ages 6 and up. Since discovering I had perfect pitch in college, I'm an expert with ear training, improvisation, arranging, transcribing and advanced music theory. We can listen to any song and I'll show you how to arrange it for piano instantly! I love nothing more than sharing my passion for music and love teaching students of all ages and levels! Outside of music I enjoy golf, chess and traveling.

I'm a 19-year-old music student studying at a local community college. I needed to take piano lessons to further my music education. Justin is a great instructor. Besides what we work on during lessons, he sent me additional material for me to read up on and study. He also helped me select the right equipment to purchase to properly learn the piano. I highly recommend Justin as your piano instructor.

Justin is without a doubt the best musical instructor I've ever had. In the few short months I've worked with him I've improved at a pace I didn't know I could achieve. What sets Justin's apart from other instructors is his approach to teaching, which strikes an excellence balance between an emphasis on fundamentals, and a steady stream of new material to keep things fresh. This simultaneously establishes a strong handle on your fundamentals, without the lessons getting tedious or redundant. It goes without saying that Justin is a master at his craft, but unlike your average piano teacher, Justin has a rather broad and holistic perspective on music (though Jazz is his specialty) making him an excellent musician rather than just an excellent pianist. Personality wise he's a very relaxed and down-to-earth person. Which gives his lessons a rather casual and laid-back feel, free from those overly-kind impressions you'll often get with a new teacher that always feel a bit insincere. Overall I cannot recommend Justin enough!

It is hard to describe the level of joy and enthusiasm my lesson with Justin brought me. Justin was respectful, patient, and incredibly helpful with my playing. My experience with Justin has inspired me to pursue music with a much more serious attitude. He helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses, and now I feel like I'm truly making progress. No other lesson I've ever taken has inspired and benefited me as much as this one.
