I was born in San Diego and started playing music as a teenager. I started with rock guitar, later studying classical and jazz guitar before attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
I completed a bachelors degree in Music Performance, and at Berklee I had the opportunity to study under and collaborate with musicians from all over the world. I have since been involved with projects involving Latin jazz, Irish/Celtic music, Classical ensembles, and singer/songwriters. After graduation I returned to San Diego to establish a career as a solo performer and teaching studio.
I also love teaching, I've been involved with both private lessons as well as classroom settings. I put an emphasis on learning music that you like to listen to, and using music that the students already know and enjoy to learn essential music fundamentals. I also expose my students to a variety of styles, to broaden their listening and interests.
*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a fairly laid-back teacher, I make it a priority to tailor my lessons to each student, making sure that they're progressing in their musical studies quickly and having fun. I have several options as far as curriculum, depending on what style of music the student is interested in, and I also will create much of my own material which is free for my students to use.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I have acoustic, electric, and nylon string guitars, as well as a recording studio setup. I also have amplifiers for electric guitars.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some teaching materials, paper handouts, etc. I will bring my own guitar but will need the student to have a guitar for themselves.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical guitar technique, Latin jazz, Brazilian music, acoustic guitar
