About Julia H.
I'm the Principal Bassoonist of the Nashville Symphony and the Santa Fe Opera. I have performed as guest Principal Bassoon with many North American orchestras including the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Les Violons du Roy.
As a soloist, I performed numerous times with Nashville Symphony, Les Violons du Roy and Trois-Rvières Symphony.
I earned a Bachelors degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and I previously studied at the Montréal Music Conservatory.
Playing in orchestras has allowed me to tour 14 countries and led me to live in different countries. Thank to my career I became a polyglot and I developed a passion for learning and teaching languages. I believe it is the best way to understand other people, cultures and the arts.

Julia is a fantastic teacher, artist, and human being! I think that her background in classical music gives her an edge as far as figuring ways to think outside the box and better help the french student. She's also multilingual, which gives her an extra set of tools to further solve any language learning issues. She'll teach you well and amply, but she will also push your limits and be demanding if you're interested in progressing faster, especially when it comes to proper pronunciation.
She's an amazing teacher and I wouldn't be as fluent as I am if it weren't for her. I highly recommend her!

Julia is great! I’ve known her for 13 years as both mentor and now colleague. She’s a fabulous bassoonist (that’s how we met!) and a wonderful communicator.
