English (ESL) with Julia C.

Hi there everyone. My name is Julia Collins. I'm a native speaker of American English coming from the state of Ohio in the United States of America. I have a bachelors degree in English Literature and a TEFL certified and well experienced teacher acquired from The Ohio State University. I know how hard it can be to learn a second language and its my hope that this understanding makes me a better teacher for my students. Since 2001 I have taught and tutored students in over 7 countries including Russia, Brazil, Spain, France, South Korea and China. They have ranged from beginning to advanced proficiency. The method that I prefer to use is a balanced combination of speaking, listening comprehension, reading comprehension and written composition-all with a special focus on verbal conversation. I enjoy using my own-composed class material to better convey certain concepts and to demonstrate proper pronunciation. However keep in mind that our lessons are custom-tailored to fit the student's scholastic and personal goals. I like to consider myself a compassionate educator and am always open to helping my students build their confidence in areas where they might feel apprehensive. Confidence is the biggest step in communication-so I always encourage my students to always ask questions whenever they have.
