Piano with Juli E.

Hi! My name is Juli, and I love my job! My passion is helping people of all ages to develop a level of proficiency and confidence that will enable them to be lifelong lovers of music. I have a B.A. in music education with an emphasis in vocal studies, and have been teaching choir, musical theatre, private voice, piano, guitar and ukulele for over 10 years. I am fascinated by the range of learning styles and gifts of my students. I constantly strive to understand how my students learn best, and incorporate multi-sensory activities into our lessons to optimize retention and build a solid foundation. I believe that the study of music is about much more than the music itself. It is a platform for developing skills that translate to many areas of life. I spend a good deal of time training my students how to evaluate and solve problems they run up against in practice. My hope is that they will come to believe that they can solve not only musical challenges, but other challenges as well. I also work with parents and students to encourage growth in self-discipline. About twice a year I take my students to perform in local assisted living communities, both to get them involved in serving the community and to give them performance and public speaking experience.
