Judith graduated Magna cum Laude from Susquehanna University, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in May of 2011. Performances include two solo recitals, appearances in "Der Kaiser von Atlantis" as the Drummer, and "Susannah". She also performed with the Susquehanna University Choir, Chamber Singers, and Orchestra for four years, touring the East Coast, which included a performance at Carnegie Hall in NYC. She also performed as a cellist in a Chamber Trio Ensemble, when she received coaching from the Tokyo String Quartet. Other experiences include a performance as a soprano soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She currently performs with the Academy Chorale and Chamber Society, and is a former member of the Abington Choral Club. She has studied voice with Dr. Nina Tober, Julia Kemp, and Susan Kloss, and cello with Talia Schiff, Charles Forbes and Andrew Rammon. *** Lesson Details *** I am a warm, enthusiastic individual who was a passion for singing (or music in general) and teaching. I believe that music has the ability to touch and change lives, and I am privileged to be able to share this beautiful art with others. I believe strongly in having an open relationship with my students, which means I hope that they will communicate specific goals and ideas that they have, and I will do the same. I enjoy learning about my students lives outside of our lessons, and try to incorporate elements of their interests into the lessons (by means of analogies, metaphors, etc.). Lessons will be specifically designed for the individual. Through my experience as a private and group instructor, I have learned to "diagnose" a students needs and administer proper instruction to help them improve and reach their goals. Lessons will include instruction in vocal technique, musical interpretation and musicianship, building theory and sight singing skills* (*if desired or relevant), and diction (English and foreign language). I am also able to teach beginning string lessons. I have been playing cello for 13 years myself, and have performed on violin and viola as well. Lessons are designed to make the student comfortable with note-reading while learning how to handle, play, and LOVE their instrument. **Please note: students interested in taking voice lessons - I am classically trained and specialize in classical and operatic singing. I can teach basic to intermediate musical theatre, but pop/jazz/country are not my specialty. *** Studio Equipment *** I have a piano, my own instruments, and a music stand. *** Travel Equipment *** I will provide music and if I am teaching a string instrument, my own instrument. Also, if the student is looking to learn a string instrument, I would like the student to either own or rent their own instrument on which to learn and practice. I would hope that the student would have a piano, especially if they are studying voice. Also, I would expect them to have a music stand to use during lessons and practice. I may ask the student to order method books for the lessons, as well. *** Specialties *** I am open to most methods. I have developed my own curricula using the books that were available in the districts in which I taught, but I have not yet settled on one for teaching strings. For voice, I do not use a method book, but I select repertoire based on the concepts I am addressing with a student and on their skill and comprehension level.
