    About Joy

Take lessons with a super patient teacher, a fun and friendly, down to earth person... who is passionate about language learning! I've been doing this for a decade now - so sign up and be prepared to be encouraged with how easily you'll pick up on the language! I have so many resources for you, too! After each lesson I send homework for further practuce. My lessons will give you a strong foundation in Sign, and then a few training wheels until you feel confident in what you know, and can converse about various real-life topics. My teaching method utilizes much of Deaf professor Dr. Bill Vicars' approach--with signed conversation in each lesson beginning with high frequency concepts. Each lesson is full of new signs, grammar, conversation, Deaf culture tidbits, and more. I have met with individuals who are late deafened, parents of deaf children or with speech delays, and others who just have wanted to learn the language at a conversational level. One of the major differences between learning a language in a classroom and having a personal instructor is that one-on-one help you will receive --- specific to your level, learning style, and language goals. I will help you stop feeling nervous, renew your motivation, and get you communicating in a new language in no time!!
