Take music theory classes from a music instructor with 15+ years of experience

Have you ever wanted to know why a song makes us feel a certain way? How can some people listen to a song only a couple times and know how to play it? This is all rooted in music theory. From co-teaching the AP Music Theory class to studying contemporary composition at Boston University, I can help you learn the foundations for songwriting, composing, and learning music by ear.

Currently available for new students. Lessons can be explorative, structured, soothing, a fun challenge, or all of the above. Teaching is my passion and privilege. I specialize in contemporary piano and voice performance, songwriting, and music production. My goal in lessons is to foster a creative, supportive, and collaborative environment. I work with students of all ages and levels of experience. Whether you are new to music or are looking to improve your skills, you are welcome. In addition to teaching, I am an independent artist and producer based in Boston, MA and have written, produced, and performed on a number of EPs, singles, and full-length albums (joshfriedmanmusic). I love to cater each lesson to individual student needs. Whatever your goals are in music I will provide the structure, resources, and space to get you there. Looking forward to making music with you!
