Hi! I am Joshua, and I am a woodwind doubler. This means that I specialize in all of the woodwind instruments, but my primary instrument is Oboe. I am a third year college student majoring in Oboe performance, and I have made the intercollegiate honor band in South Carolina. I have also attended the NafMe all national honor band in 2017 where I placed first chair on saxophone. I have done many honor bands, and have worked with many professional musicians. I also have experience with teaching local students and getting them to the playing level that they desired. I am super friendly, and I love to have fun, but when I need to be serious, I will be. I look forward to teaching you!

Josh is a fantastic clarinet instructor. He’s enthusiastic, patient, and finds the right balance of fun and challenging exercises. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well the online lessons have gone.

If you've ever had to tell a coworker how to do something on a computer that you do 100 times a day without thinking, you know how hard it is to verbalize the things you do with muscle memory. Joshua is a whiz at finding exactly the right way to explain how to adjust my mechanics to make progress on my instrument. I played flute in HS over 30 years ago and was a little nervous about starting over at my age but Joshua is completely supportive and positive and fun. I also happen to be a science teacher and I've loved being a student again because it's helping me relate to my students and to think about feedback - so it's like my flute lessons are coming with bonus lessons on how to teach. I've learned a lot from Joshua in just a couple of months.
