I'm a saxophone teacher and I also teach flute, clarinet, and piano as well as jazz improvisation and other instruments such as bass and drums from time to time. Saxophone is my primary instrument and I fell in love with playing it at an early age.

I've been playing for about 25 years now! I'm well versed in any style you can imagine including jazz, classical, funk, blues, or anything else you can think of! I can also teach you how to improvise and play solos over chord changes or quickly come up with parts on the fly if you're playing in a band or are interested in writing. If you're interested in just getting the basics down, I can help with that too. I remember what it was like getting started in school band and some methods that you can use to get comfortable on the horn pretty quickly and just playing some music! I'd love to hear what kind of music you're into as well- it's more fun for everyone involved if we can incorporate some of that into the lessons too!

You can check out some examples of my playing at joshmarcusmusic.com, or feel free to message me for playing examples or with any questions you have. Even if you're just curious how lessons might look or what we might work on, don't hesitate to contact me. I'm happy to chat anytime and I would love to work with you!

Thanks and I look forward to speaking with you!

About Joshua M.

I have been playing music since I was a kid. I started out in church, then went on to play in school band and started gigging here and there. I just loved playing from the beginning and wanted to learn how to play improvised solos. There was just some magic in being able to make up what you play on the spot and it seemed like a total mystery to me!

I got a great teacher in high school and started learning about how music is structured and learning some scales and material to play solos with and I took off immediately. I went on to get a Master's degree in Jazz Performance and I am playing professionally in New York, which has been a dream of mine for many years.

I would love to help you realize some of your goals as well! Even if you don't want to take it as far as me, playing music is just fun and it's good for your brain!

Reach out to me today and I will help you find something that you love and something that you might not be able to put down!
