Hello! My name is Joshua, a passionate music educator and professional musician from Columbus, OH. I am a section trumpet player in several central Ohio-based orchestras, and frequently play musicals in some of the most illustrious organizations in the area. Some of my past performance experience includes performing/composing in a brass funk band, a 3-week stint at a children's theme park, playing the national anthem at an NCAA event, and playing at the opening ceremony of the Arnold Fitness Competition. In addition to live performance, I have had several opportunities to record in the studio, and record as a hobby at home. Many of my students have had successful auditions for central Ohio orchestra and jazz organizations and a few have gone on to study music or play in collegiate ensembles. In the 2021-22, I taught collegiate trumpet at Ohio Wesleyan University. Lessons with me are an exciting opportunity to build the foundation needed to be a profound and versatile performer. Primary lesson objects involve routine building, learning to stay organized with practice templates, and recording to document personal progress. Students that are preparing auditions for state solo competitions, youth ensembles, or university auditions will get the proper attention to conquering performance anxiety and playing dynamically. I love to teach style! A great focus that I encourage is listening to professional recordings to aid in sound development. We must use our ears! Personally, my favorite music to play is Baroque solos and transcriptions, Romantic orchestral, and modern funk. Let's have some fun and get started planning your musical journey!
