Hello Potential Students! I pride myself in being able to break down difficult skills into basic steps that anyone can master. The hard part is knowing how to break down those skills, but you can leave that part to me! I've taught music and piano for a number of years, and also tutor students in difficult high school subjects such as match and physics. I have a degree in astrophysics from the University of Maryland, and now work as a patent attorney where I work to break down and detail difficult cutting-edge technologies for the public. Outside of work, I really enjoy making and teaching music as well to people of all ages. I've specialized in jazz piano, but also really enjoy playing modern pop/rock. Students I teach piano to learn how to not just play their favorite songs, but also how to break them down and understand how they were put together. This enables students to learn how to learn, and if they dare, to start making music of their own. See you in the classroom!

Josh has been great with our 12 yr son. First time doing online lessons so I was skeptical but He has always been prepared for every lesson and every lesson has been very productive

I took lessons from Joshua for three months while my normal piano teacher was on vacation for the summer. In those months, my skills improved tremendously, leaving my teacher in awe of how much I improved during his hiatus. Josh worked with me on developing my technical skills and knowledge of music theory and was incredibly successful in helping me build on my previous skills. Joshua was understanding and patient as a teacher, helping me as I struggled through challenging pieces and encouraging me to continue practicing and not give up. Overall, Josh was a great teacher and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a piano teacher!

Josh is a really great teacher - he has a structured plan he follows, he answers questions well, he cares about your goals, he is patient, and he's pretty funny too! I've been progressing faster than I imagined through weekly sessions with Josh and always can't wait for the next one!
