    About Joshua D.

I received my bachelor's degree in Voice from Susquehanna University, where I served as a student voice teacher and a music theory tutor. I am currently completing my master's degree in musicology at Mason Gross School of the Arts, where I also studied opera performance, taught undergraduate music surveys, privately tutored Diction, and directed opera department productions. I have participated in a number of different musical ensembles and performances including operas, recitals, choirs, a cappella groups, musicals, and liturgical music. Through my own vocal journey, I have worked with numerous teachers, voice professionals and medical specialists concerning vocal faults and health issues. This has fostered my pedagogical understanding of the voice and my emphasis on vocal health. My approach with students is to find a natural, healthy, and unique sound that comes with good technique, care of the voice, and musical knowledge. Supplemented by regular practice, my lessons will address the individual needs of every student; just like a fingerprint, every voice is unique and presents unique challenges. In addition to voice lessons, I teach beginning piano and music theory lessons, establishing a firm musical foundation for those who wish to supplement their voice lessons or improve their performance on another instrument.

Joshua is adept in understanding his pupils-their favored style of music, learning threshold, and what motivates them to sing at their level best. He is fun and patient. I recommend Joshua to everyone.
