DJing with Joshua B.

I am a professional musician that has been playing instruments since I was 8 years old. Over the years I have learned how to play many different instruments including Clarinet, Trumpet, and Saxophone. While in college I taught myself how to use turntables and to DJ and never looked back. I have a degree from UCLA that ultimately took me into the teaching world where I was a high school science teacher for 7 years. During this time I was also DJing and building up a career with that as well. I did the typical djing my friends house parties and college bars which eventually led to me getting an opportunity to perform at Coachella in 2011. Additionally I have played just about every major venue in LA and have always been very active in the dance community in Los Angeles. Beyond Coachella, I have also had the opportunity to perform at several other festivals including Lightning In A bottle 2 twice, Electric Forest twice, Genius Loci fest in Baja California, and a few other boutique festivals in California and Colorado. I also have experience on the international scene as well. Having lived in Ibiza for a summer, I credit this time with really giving me many of the tools I use as a DJ today. Having the opportunity to interface, connect and play with so many DJ's and to have their mentorship while I was there was invaluable. That ultimately led to an opportunity to spend some time in Croatia where I was invited to play Kanegra Beach Festival with several of my heros including Matador, Stacey Pullen, and Kevin Saunderson. When Im not DJing/traveling I am the co-owner and label manager for Los Angeles Music Project. A record label and collective of DJ's that regularly perform in LA and elsewhere. We have been in existence for 6 years now and continue to be a major contributor in the Los Angeles house and techno scene. I am also the lead in Southern California for a silent disco company HUSHconcerts that produces DJ events across the country. I have spent the last 4 or 5 years mentoring several different producers and Dj's helping them learn their craft and achieve the goals they have set out for themselves. I spent almost 2 years as an instructor at one of the top schools for DJing in LA Garnish Music Academy and been asked to do a couple of workshops for some other schools including Point Blank and I/O Music Academy. I really feel fortunate that I am able to share this talent with others and hope that you will find me a good fit for your DJ instructor needs.
