Bluegrass Guitar

Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
I have been teaching professionally since 2011. I hold a masters degree from the University of Louisville, and a bachelors degree from Morehead State University, studying jazz guitar at both schools. I have been teaching students from ages 5-60 with varying skill levels. My lessons specialize in learning technique along with the music theory to back it up. I also teach how to read standard music notation, guitar tablature, and also guitar maintenance. My philosophy for teaching is that every one of my students will be able to function effectively in any musical genre that they choose, and be able to understand the theory behind what is being played.

Teaching since:

I am a professional guitarist, guitar teacher, composer, and audio engineer from Louisville, Ky. I hold a masters degree from the University of Louisville and a bachelors degree from Morehead State University, both studying jazz guitar performance.

My principle instrument teachers include Craig Wagner, Glenn Ginn, Peter Mazza, and Dani Rabin. I also studied music theory and improvisation under Chris Fitzgerald (bass), Gordon Towell (saxophone), Steven Snyder (piano/organ), Mike Tracy (saxophone), and Ansyn Banks (trumpet). I have been fortunate enough to perform at JEN (Jazz Education Network) convention, and KMEA (Kentucky Music Education Association). I have also performed with artists such as Eric Alexander, Jim Snydero (opened for him), Pat Coil, Jamey Aebersold, Ryan Cohen, Amina Figarova, and Dan Haerle, just to name a few.

My teaching career started in 2011 while I was at MSU. Since then, I have moved to Gittli Music Studios in Jeffersontown, and have worked with numerous students of all ages and skill levels. I frequently work with students that have never picked up the instrument. Students that have been playing for a year or less and are just getting their start. Also students that have been playing for years and just wanting to hone their skills and technique. All of my students after lessons with me should know the entire fretboard of the guitar, and be able to function effectively in any musical genre that they would like to play. I look forward to working with you, and sharing my knowledge of how make great music!
