I have been working with students for several years in formal and informal settings. I have a degree in psychology, with a minor in statistics. I recently began coaching chess at several local DC area schools, and tutoring private students. I love to help people learn a new subject, and I am especially passionate about engendering the joy of learning in young people.

My 10 year old son has really enjoyed working with Josh. Josh is patient, easily connects with kids and offers insights to helping improve my son's chess game. He looks forward to his time with Josh and is motivated to bring his game up to the next level by practicing the worksheets that Josh assigns him between lessons. I highly recommend Josh as a chess tutor.

Speaking as a beginner, he's able to convey his knowledge with chess well to students. Would recommend to others looking for a tutor to up their game.

My first lesson with Josh was great. He is an amazing player and was very patient with me as I have not been playing chess for that long. He is very good teacher! I look forward to my next lesson!
