I have been working with students for several years in formal and informal settings. I have a degree in psychology, with a minor in statistics. I recently began coaching chess at several local DC area schools, and tutoring private students. I love to help people learn a new subject, and I am especially passionate about engendering the joy of learning in young people.
I work as a chess coach for several local DC area schools through the Silver Knights Enrichment program.

We had our first lesson and the kids loved it! they can wait for next week. They were very happy. Josh was on time, professional and everything went smooth.
Josh is the best!
My 10 year old son has really enjoyed working with Josh. Josh is patient, easily connects with kids and offers insights to helping improve my son's chess game. He looks forward to his time with Josh and is motivated to bring his game up to the next level by practicing the worksheets that Josh assigns him between lessons. I highly recommend Josh as a chess tutor.+ Read More
Speaking as a beginner, he's able to convey his knowledge with chess well to students. Would recommend to others looking for a tutor to up their game.
My first lesson with Josh was great. He is an amazing player and was very patient with me as I have not been playing chess for that long. He is very good teacher! I look forward to my next lesson!
