Hello! Thank you for considering me as your drum set and hand percussion teacher! I offer lessons to beginner, intermediate, and advanced level students on drum set and hand percussion. Virtual Classes will have a strong focus on the fundamentals of playing, whether that be with sticks on a practice pad/snare drum, or with a hand drum. In-Person Classes will dive deeper into full drum set theory and song playing. --- If you are a beginning student we will start from the ground up with proper stick or hand drumming technique, and we’ll get some basic patterns going on a practice pad or snare drum. I like to use handouts along with some of my favorite books that I used growing up to help new students understand the importance of being able to speak the language not only by playing what we feel, but also with our ability to read music. Please use links that I will provide to obtain the suggested materials for our lessons! --- As we make progress on the fundamentals, and if you are studying with me in-person, I will begin to transcribe songs of your choice during our lesson time, and we will learn the grooves from classic tunes! Intermediate and advanced students will be introduced to rudiment studies, learning different styles of drumming, and how to make your own transcriptions. Adding these skills to your repertoire will help you read and write music on a higher level so you can eventually create your own charts to be ready for a gig! You may even want to consider writing and producing your own music, which is something I have years of experience doing! My goal is to work with each student and create a fun and open environment that best suites your personality and interests. I'm looking forward to getting started!
