I am currently employed as the Music Teacher in a public elementary school and teach Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion and lead the school band, I also teach general and choral music at the school. I have taught private Drum Set and Percussion Lessons since 2004 to students from age 4-70. I was a featured clinician at Caldwell University's Summer Percussion Intensive on July 18th, 2015 and assistant director of Caldwell Universities Youth Percussion Ensemble during the 2014-2015 school year. I am active as an assistant director and performer at Caldwell University. As an experienced performing musician, I have performed internationally at the Terra Incognita Festival in Canada with "The Tea Club". I also recently released my first Jazz Fusion album, Zargon 9.I have a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Percussion Performance and Music Education Certification. I hold a New Jersey State Musci Teacher Certification for grades K-12. I am fortunate to have studied with great Joe Morello(Take Five, The Dave Brubeck Quartet). I actively perform in multiple music genres and have studied various music styles including Rock, Jazz, Classical and more. Music is my life, and my students receive all the musical knowledge and assistance I have to offer. *** Lesson Details *** With all students, lessons focus on the student's music interests (Rock, Jazz,Classical,Latin etc.) My lessons focus on developing a great sense of tempo and beat (time) while learning proper Technique, Reading and performing Snare Drum etudes and pieces, and reading, transcribing and performing Drum Set Grooves and appropriate fills in all styles. Studies in all genres will include the application of these studies when performing music in ensembles. All studies include music reading (notated music) and aural (by ear) learning. In 3-6 months, beginner students will learn to perform on the drum set with proper techniques for several stroke types (Single, Double, Buzz) and basic drum set grooves. Students will also learn to play fills around the drumset and will begin expressing themselves musically on the drums. Students will also have the opportunity to experience and learn from playing drums with another musician as I will accompany them on Bass or Keyboard. In addition, students will learn to read and perform Percussion and Drum Set music. Intermediate and advanced students will learn to perform with a deep pocket and great feel behind the drum set, learn band and ensemble performance techniques, and will learn to improvise in multiple styles. They will also learn to perform increasingly complicated drum set grooves in many styles including Afro-Cuban, Swing, Funk, Hip-hop, Afro-Beat and more. For interested students, Mallet Technique and repertoire (Vibraphone, Xylophone, Marimba, Bells) may also be studied. Students studying Mallets will also learn music theory throughout their progress. *** Studio Equipment *** 2 Drum Sets, Vibraphone, Drum Pads, Glockenspiel, Bongos, tambourine, triangle, castanets, shakers, Keyboard and amp, Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Octapad *** Travel Equipment *** Students must provide drums. I will bring a drum pad and stand, Students must have a music stand. *** Specialties *** I specialize in Jazz and Rock drum set as well as classical percussion. I also specialize in stick technique based on my former studies with Joe Morello (2004-2008)
