I believe that learning a musical instrument is a valuable activity because it provides a means of self-expression, self-confidence through diligence and recognition, and a deeper understanding of the music they listen to. It can also help students understand other cultures- which is important in an age of global interdependence. I have played cello in the Nashviille Philharmonic and I attended the Brevard Music Institute with a scholarship.
