The guitar is, of course, a staple of American music and it's versatility is endless. With me, you'll learn first to explore the instrument itself and then to use your ear to create and arrange songs.  We will use music from all eras to gain a full understanding of how the guitar can play its role in music, from just jamming to performance-quality playing.

I am first and forever a musician and I want to inspire the love of learning and playing music within all those I encounter.  I have a degree in Musical Theatre from Western Carolina University, and I've been diligently studying music since I was a child.  From me, you will learn multiple styles and work with both written music and music played by ear.  I expect a great deal from my students and I hope they expect the same from me.

Joe was a great instructor! I came into the skype lesson with a very base knowledge of guitar (and not having touched mine in years) and he did a wonderful job teaching me! He gave clear and easy to understand instructions and demonstrated the fingering and techniques he wanted me to learn along with explaining them in detail, which I found very helpful. The lesson was a lot of fun and I'm excited to start practicing again! We covered a good amount of material in about an hour long lesson, some chords, strumming, scales, and exercises to practice on my own, and he even taught me a good song incorporating the chords and strumming we learned in the lesson. Joe is a great teacher with a lot of patience and I really feel like I was getting the most out of my lesson and learned a lot! I highly recommend him!

Joe is not only a great teacher but human being in general. Took both guitar and ukele lessons with him for a year. Extemely knowledgable and talented and very patient with me and always kept lessons fun (we spent most of our time laughing). In just a few weeks my progress grew immensely and I was able to play mostly any basic song on guitar and after a few months I got to sink my teeth into more complicated pieces. Would definitely recommend Joe to anyone looking to Learn how to play or increase their skills
