I enjoy playing music more than anything else, its been quite literally the one constant for the last decade or so of my life. I've studied music formally for the past 5-6 years (most recently I've just finished the guitar program at the Musician's Institute). I've studied everything from general music theory to jazz theory to renaissance theory and all the techniques involved in applying all of these things to the guitar. I've performed live in bands since I was 17 and have performed in a few musicals, in addition to live experience I've also had experience working as a session musician, a songwriter and arranger. I feel that my thorough education [although I'd never call it "complete", always learning :) ] combined with my real world experience as a working musician can help you on your path to becoming the best musician that you can be. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are typically about what the student wants to learn. If YOU want to learn how to play YOUR favorite songs, I can teach YOU. If YOU want to learn how to master the fretboard and be able to improvise in any genre, I can teach YOU. I bring my education and experiences to serve as a guide on YOUR musical journey. I'm very passionate about teaching but I'm most passionate about the music itself, so I'm flexible about the exact details of each lesson. I have a standard curriculum but deviating from the page is always an option as long as the student is learning. For complete beginners, we start with the basics of reading tablature and chord diagrams, CAGED chords and barre chords. After that, we go in the direction that best suits the style that you're interested in playing. *** Studio Equipment *** Guitars: 1 nylon acoustic, 2 steel string acoustics, 2 electric guitars and 1 bass guitar. 2 electric guitar amplifiers Home studio setup to record each lesson *** Travel Equipment *** Acoustic Guitar, metronome, portable recorder *** Specialties *** Mel Bay method and the standard Musician's Institute method/style as it pertains to guitar performance. Genres: Rock, Metal, Blues, Country, Jazz, Fusion, Rockabilly, Folk.
