I believe in setting great expectations and celebrating small accomplishments, they, in turn, lead to bigger ones. I love working with children and have made this my business for over twenty years. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology, a minor in marketing and a Master's of fine art's degree in writing. I am a certified High school English teacher, private writing coach, and a published author of two books. I have founded the Royal Writers Organization, a nonprofit writing program for children and have brought workshops to children, schools and their community institutions for the last 9years. I was that child who wrote and read under my covers with a flashlight, way after the time my parents told me to go to sleep. I wrote until my pencil forged its resting place on the side of my finger. This passion for writing is what I want for my students, and of which I have succeeded in bringing forth in varying degrees. I enjoy traveling to the worlds that lie within books and look forward to taking my students along with me.

My daughter needed help with her writing portfolio for an audition. I knew that the competition was going to be fierce and while I believe that my daughter has real talent I also knew that she needed help organizing here ideas. Needless to say, she was selected to participate in the writing program. We both know that Jonita’s guidance and collaboration helped her achieve that goal. Jonita’s teaching style is exceptional and refreshing. My daughter hopes to work with her again as she transitions to the next stage of her journey as a young writer.
