I met Joneide about 2 years ago through a work colleague.
Joneide is an amazing teacher who displays much knowledge of the Portuguese language. She is enthusiastic, patient, organized, and keeps you engaged in every lesson.

Joneide has been my Portuguese instructor for different level courses at Brazil in Chicago. She performs in a very professional and well organized manner. In a class with Joneide you can expect to hear and learn a lot from her native language at a very comfortable pace. She is excellent at introducing students to the language, correct pronunciation and much of Brazil’s culture. She is very patient and accommodates to different levels. Her classes always have an enjoyable way to learn such as fun stories or music. I appreciate that she takes the time to introduce the language that may be spoken in a professional environment as well as what you would hear in a casual street conversation. Joneide always has a smile in her face, which to me is very valuable as she loves her job.

Joneide was my teacher for two consecutive cycles of Portuguese. Her dynamic personality and engaging lessons prepared me well for my trip abroad. I was able to carry on conversation and even help translate a presentation from Portuguese to English. Joneide was a great teacher and I would go to her again for classes.

I had the pleasure of having Joneide as a Portuguese language for a few different courses at Brazil in Chicago. She was a great teacher who made every class exciting and different. She was very organized and came to class each week with a lesson plan as well as different materials and activities to help us as we learned the Portuguese language. Although she made each class fun, she also challenged us by making sure we engaged in as much Portuguese dialogue as possible. She also made sure to correct our pronunciation so that we said each word correctly, which was something I was really grateful for. Also, aside from being a great instructor she was very friendly and made you feel comfortable asking any questions in the class setting. She also taught us a lot about the Brazilian culture and even did a cooking demo during one of our last classes, making Pão de queijo (Brazilian Cheese Bread) for our class!

Joneide taught Portuguese in a fun and engaging class environment! She really focused on the students and our needs and always took the time to explain something difficult. She also provided a lot of information about Brazilian culture and history, so we learned the language in context. Our lessons provided us with language skills that were transferable to the real world.

Joneide takes great care to utilize relevant as well as interesting materials to enhance her language instruction. Authentic music and texts helped me to meaningfully connect to the language. Also, she is a native speaker so her fluency and cultural knowledge is an invaluable resource. She cares about her students as individuals and adapts her instruction accordingly.

Joneide is a wonderful and professional Portuguese language instructor. I have taken the one on one class with her online for over a year. She was very quick at identifying the areas that needed extra attention and customized the class based on my work needs. She takes great interest in exploiting the student's potential and constantly comes up with new fun but very challenging lessons. I have traveled on business to Brazil and thanks to her I was able to feel confidence during my meetings. I would recommend her to anyone that is trying to learn Portuguese.
