Originally from the Kansas City area, I studied Vocal Performance, Choral Conducting and Music Education at the renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. I have performed a wide variety of leading roles in everything from opera and operetta to musical comedy. I have been a featured performer with organizations such as Music Theatre for the People of Kansas City, The Kansas City Symphony, The Kansas City Lyric Opera, Indiana University Opera & Ballet Theatre, 13th Street Repertory, La Muse Venale Acting Troupe, and the Bloomington Playwrights Project. I have directed and music directed productions at the collegiate and professional levels. Recent credits include: Indiana Memorial Union Board's production of Godspell, in Bloomington, Indiana, the Hoosier Musical Productions of The Fantasticks and Tick, tick...BOOM!, also in Bloomington, Indiana, and the off-Broadway production of Honestly Abe, a new musical about Abraham Lincoln. *** Lesson Details *** All lessons begin with vocal warm-ups and breathing exercises. These get the student loosened up and serve as an excellent way for Jon to gauge progress and vocal health. After warm-ups comes song study. Students and I work together to pick out songs that best fit their voice and range. The ultimate goal is to get students singing healthily on a consistent basis.
