My name is Jonathan and I am an R&B Guitarist. I’ve been playing guitar and studying the guitar for over 15 years and I’ve been teaching with TakeLessons since 2015. The minute I started learning the guitar I couldn’t stop. After purchasing many books and DVDs I came across a Gospel Guitar DVD by the amazing and incomparable Bobby Griffin Jr. The DVD compelled me to seek him out for lessons and eventually I found him. I studied the guitar with Bobby Griffin for many years and we are still friends today. I have also studied with Kerry Marshall Jr., Xeryus Gittens, and Todd Pritchard, just to name a few! My work and dedication to the craft of playing guitar led me to obtain a position as a guitar teacher at Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County where I have been sharpening my skills as a teacher among some of the most talented musicians Connecticut has to offer! I’ve studied with some great musicians and guitarists, but nothing has replaced the hard work and dedication that I put into becoming the guitarist that I am. Although I love teaching guitar lessons on the TakeLessons platform, one key thing to remember before choosing to take guitar lessons with me. Please be respectful of my classroom, unfortunately I’ve had some less than positive experiences with students on this platform that have been less than positive because the students were not respectful. 🔴Questions or concerns you may have: Maybe you’re a complete beginner? Maybe you already know some chords but you just need some guidance on how to make your chords sound musical? Perhaps you are having trouble memorizing the Fretboard? Need help learning how to “play by numbers” using the Number System? Are you tired of song-based learning and are ready to learn how to play the guitar instead of just playing the song? Maybe you want to participate in your local community ("Open-Mic Night," church, or talent show)? All of what I have mentioned here are just a few of the things you can expect to learn while taking lessons with me. 🔴I am an R&B Guitarist. I am not going to teach you “100 Rock and Metal Licks”. There are plenty of other teachers that will teach you all of the Rock and Metal music you want. I love Rock and Metal but what I am teacher is R&B. 🔴Be respectful of the curriculum and don’t try to control the classroom. I have a step-by-step process so don’t attempt to skip any of the steps. These lessons are to help you become a better guitarist. If you feel something is hard, difficult, or challenging, just let me know and I will do my best to help you meet expectations. If you practice and follow my curriculum, you will see results in your skills as a guitarist! 🔴Experience with Special Needs: I have worked in the Direct Care field for almost 10 years, and this has given me invaluable experience working with individuals with special needs. I have experience with multiple levels of special needs, and I have the patience and the skills necessary to teach those who have special needs. 🔴Instruments Taught: Electric Guitar and Acoustic Guitar. 🔴Genres Taught: R&B, Gospel, and Blues Guitar. 🔴Class Features: Learning materials are made available to the student after the lesson. 🔴Music Theory And Ear Training included in lessons. 🔴Although I appreciate all styles of music I primarily teach and play guitar in the style of R&B.
